Tips for buying baby clothes!

These tips are from my experience with Aliya. Aliya growth so fast, until there is no cloth she can fit and we need to buy more and more clothes every month. What a waste when there are some clothes which not be wearing yet.

My tips:
  1. Buy only a few clothes for newborn. Maybe you can preparing one cloth for one day (5-7 clothes) because babies grow incredible fast in their first month.
  2. Buy clothes that easy to wear! Make sure the clothes are ease to access that allow quickly change a diaper or the pants without having fully undress your baby.
  3. Do not follow the exact month of the dress, but follow the exact size of your baby.
  4. Buy when you see a sale because normally infants aren't picky what they wear as long as it's comfortable. Go for cheaper clothes yet comfortable.
  5. Consider the safety and comfort first. Place function before fashion!
  6. Attention: Wash the new clothes first before you put it on the baby.

Baby skin rash (Eczema)

Aliya with skin rash on her face
Causes:

Many different things can be the irritating agent or trigger. Here is a list of common triggers to watch for:

  • Rubbing the skin
  • Moisture, such as saliva or milk
  • Overheating
  • Common housedust
  • Wool or other scratchy fabric
  • Dog or cat dander
  • Cigarette smoke
  • Clothes washed in irritating detergent
  • Body soap
  • Water
Occasionally, the eczema is caused by an allergic reaction to food or foods in the baby's diet.

How to prevent?

The first step in treating eczema is to identify the precipitating event or trigger and avoid it if possible!

You may not see an immediate improvement, but if you are going to successfully treat eczema, it is important to break the cycle! Here are some tips:

  • Avoid situations that will make your baby sweat -- don't pile on blankets or put her in a blanket sleeper.
  • Cut cows' milk, eggs, citrus fruits, and peanut products from her diet.
  • Wash her clothes in a laundry detergent made for sensitive skin, such as Dreft Laundry Detergent.
  • Avoid dressing your daughter (or yourself for that matter) in wool or any other harsh material (cotton is excellent).
  • To keep skin healthy, it is better to avoid long baths. We once thought that cutting down on all baths was important. Now we know that long baths and soaps are the problem for most children. When the skin prunes, this disrupts the moisture-retaining layer of sensitive skin.

You can help minimize inflamed patches of eczema, but her skin will remain sensitive until she outgrows the condition. A rash on your baby's face invites you to look beyond the shallow covering of the outer layer of skin to see her true beauty that lies beneath.

Vegetables Fun Facts & Counting Calories

Vegetables Fun Facts

  • Tomatoes are very high in the carotenoid Lycopene; eating foods with carotenoids can lower your risk of cancer.
  • Other vegetables high in carotenoids are carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, and collard greens.
  • Most of the nutrients in a potato reside just below the skin layer.
  • A horn worm can eat an entire tomato plant by itself in one day!
  • In the United States, more tomatoes are consumed than any other single fruit or vegetable!
  • California produces almost all of the broccoli sold in the United States.
  • Yams and sweet potatoes are not the same thing!
  • A baked potato (with skin) is a good source of dietary fiber (4 grams).
  • It is recommended that you eat five servings of fruit or vegetables a day. A serving equals one-half cup.
Eat vegetables for a healthy life!

Counting Calories

  • A calorie is a type of measurement that indicates how much energy food gives us.
  • Food labels tell you how many calories a food contains.
  • In general, kids ages 7 to 12 should take in about 2,200 calories each day.
  • Teenage girls should also need about 2,200 calories, while teenage boys require about 2,800.
  • The general recommendation as far as the calorie intake is concerned is that men need about 2700 calories per day and women require about 2000 calories per day.
  • But these recommendations are suggested for average body structure adults, who perform their usual day-to-day activities and do not follow a vigorous workout.

Calorie Consumption

Here's a look at about how many calories you burn per hour for certain activities.

Calories for Fat Loss

Science tells us that 1 pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories, so a daily calorie deficit of 500 should result in 1 pound per week fat loss. In reality things don't quite work that efficiently!

Warning!

Always try to aim for the "Fat Loss" daily calorie level. The "Extreme Fat Loss" level is effectively a rock bottom calorie level. Do not attempt to immediately drop your calories to this level hoping for the quick fix - this may ultimately backfire. The Extreme Fat Loss level is listed to show the lowest calorie amount that could be considered. It should be seen as the exception rather than the rule.

It truly is better to burn the fat than to starve it.

This morning, we were planting vegetables.
The vegetables are chilies, spinach, and parsley.
Aliya is waiting for mama & papa!

Please Don't Shake Your Baby!!!

Mrs. Frog!! Please don't shake your tadpole!!

Have you ever found yourself in a situation like this?

  • Your baby has cried non-stop for hours.
  • You've done everything you can think of, but the baby is still crying.
  • You're frustrated and exhausted.
  • Nothing works.

Which way do you react?

  • Do you lose control, grab the baby, and scream, "What do you want?" or "Shut up!" or "I can't take this any more!" And then...you shake your baby in frustration.

  • Or do you back off, get help, and calm down before picking up your baby?

Each year, about 1,000 children die because of shaken baby syndrome.

  • When an infant is shaken, the baby's head snaps back and forth. The vessels in your child's head cannot tolerate the impact of the extensive shaking. The vessels break, causing blood to empty into the baby's skull.

  • You didn't know it was so easy to cause your child's brain to bleed, did you? We know you don't want to harm your baby. You may simply be tired and angry for a moment. But if you lose control, even for an instant, it can haunt you for a lifetime. You and your child may deal with possible neurological damage, mental retardation, seizure disorder, or blindness as a result.

Here's what you can do.

  • When your baby is irritable, make sure all his/her needs are met. Rock the baby in the crib or your arms, put him in his stroller and take a walk, or put him in his car seat and take a ride.

  • If you feel your patience is evaporating and you're exhausted and can't take it anymore, put your baby in his/her crib and leave the room for a while until you are calm again. Ask your partner to care for the baby or ask for help. Call a friend or a relative. Take a walk after getting some help before you take over again.

  • Don't shake your baby. A moment of anger may haunt you for a lifetime.

Mama is trying to calm Aliya down!

You have been given a precious gift--a child.

  • Parenting your child will not always be easy. Along with the laughter, the hugs, and the fun there will be fatigue, frustration, and impatience. Sometimes the worries and problems that prompt raising your hand against your child have nothing to do with the child.

  • Raising your hand in anger never solves the problem and often creates new problems.
