Nasi Lemak Recipe (Malaysian Coconut Milk Rice with Anchovies Sambal)

Yesterday, we cooked Nasi Lemak for lunch. Papa cooked the Sambal bilis, and mama did the rest.

Nasi lemak recipe (mama style):

This recipe was taken and modified from Kak Ja (Che' Long), Mokku Cafe, UIA.

Nasi lemak:


Ingredients: ginger, lemon grass, coconut milk, salt, rice,
  • mix all the ingredients and cook the rice as usual.

Sambal bilis:

Ingredients: Dried anchovy , onion(separuh untuk goreng, separuh untuk diblender), garlic, lemon grass, tamarind juice, sugar, salt, dried peppers, ginger, and oil for cooking.
  • Rebus cili kering sampai mendidih,
  • goreng separuh masak ikan bilis dan bawang besar,
  • blenderkan cili kering yang direbus tadi dengan bawang besar, bawang putih dan sedikit halia.
  • Panaskan minyak (ambil minyak menggoreng *2), then tumiskan bahan blender sehingga keluar minyak.
  • Masukkan bawang dan ikan bilis yang digorang tadi.
  • Masukkan gula, garam, air asam jawa dan serai yang dititik.
  • Tunggu masak dan bolehlah hidang!

Notes: Sorry, resepi berbelit2 sikit, hehheh takberapa pandai nak tulis... Kalau ada soalan ke apa ke, nanti tanya la k! :)
